My Story

Hi, I’m Emily.
I’m an International Studies major with a focus on German and a developing interest in international conflict and state behavior. My academic work and independent writing examine how war, diplomacy, language, and cultural context shape global power dynamics.
Since 2023, I’ve been building Changing Dreams as a structured writing platform focused on modern international relations, European power politics, and underreported global conflicts. Through long-form essays and academic projects, I explore how conflicts unfold, how treaties shape political order, and how historical memory influences present-day state behavior.
My volunteer work with Ukrainian learners since October 2025 has strengthened my commitment to understanding conflict not only at the state level, but also through lived human experience. Engaging directly across cultures has reinforced the importance of both structural context and individual perspective.
Through this platform, I aim to:
• Provide historical and geopolitical context for contemporary conflicts
• Examine how power, geography, and ideology influence state decisions
• Bridge macro-level conflict dynamics with cross-cultural understanding
This site serves as a developing portfolio of academic writing, conflict-focused essays, and interdisciplinary reflections on language, faith, and global affairs.
